During the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, the 100% Italian – London Guide was launched on November 20, 2024, a project that celebrates and promotes true Made in Italy abroad. The guide’s launch took place via live streaming on London One Radio, featuring some of the leading figures in authentic Italian cuisine in the British capital.
The guide showcases 100 establishments that are 100% Italian, selected through a rigorous evaluation process involving expats and food industry professionals residing in London. These experts and enthusiasts voted for the most authentic venues, the ones that are truly 100% Italian, based on criteria such as the authenticity of flavors, the quality of ingredients, and adherence to traditions. The most deserving establishments have been included in this guide, which aims to serve as an essential reference for Italian cuisine lovers in London.
Three types of awards were assigned within the 100% Italian project: Restaurant, for those who best represent authentic Italian culinary traditions; Pizza, for the masters of true Italian pizza; and Gelato, dedicated to those who uphold the artisanal Italian gelato tradition.
Some notable figures featured during the live stream on London One Radio included awardees such as Elisa Peloni of Cremoloso, an ambassador of artisanal Italian gelato; Enzo Oliveri, chef and founder of Enzo’s Kitchen, renowned for his authentic cuisine; Carmelo Carnevale, an outstanding representative with Lizzie’s Cucina; and Alfonso Cuccaro of ‘o Ver, a master of Italian pizza.
Alessandro Schiatti, President of I Love Italian Food, highlighted the importance of this initiative: “The 100% Italian Guide is much more than a list of excellent establishments: it is a tribute to authenticity and a celebration of those who bring true Italian flavors to the world. In a time when Made in Italy risks being trivialized, our mission is to promote and protect the identity of our cuisine.”
